Mattman75:
The rich retired race driver has a hard time relating to students complainign about tutition? Big surprise.
He’s basically saying, if you don’t like what’s happening, say your piece but then go back to letting us ignore you. Would he have said the same to Ghandi? Or the protesters in Egypt?
I’m not putting students protesting over a few hundred dollars in the same league as those protesters but we’re talking about the principle here…
I would’ve agreed with you when these protests started, but a lot has happened since then. I no longer want the students to back down, mainly because of Bill-78. Which has nothing to do with law and order and everything to do with silencing and controlling lawful dissent.
Stick to driving Jacques…oh wait, you don’t do that anymore. Well go back to whatever it is you were doing.
I quoted someone in the comments section because Jacques Villeneuve mostly excels at being an uninteresting whiner, a reasonably good driver whose career was stunted by his utter lack of character and leadership ability.
I marvel that this man, born in Quebec but raised in Monaco, silver spoon and all, has the gall to call the Montreal protesters spoiled.
They may not be winning any world championships, and yeah, maybe they’re being unreasonable and immature and making a mess of Montreal. But I can’t fault their character.
“The sport is more important than anything. More important than any of the people in it. Of course I say what I think. I always have, even if it upsets people like Ecclestone and Balestre. Why should I be afraid of them? The fans aren’t here to see politicians and manipulators. They’re here to see Alain and Mario and Carlos and me. I am very secure in my feelings about racing. I make a lot of money from it, but one thing I can tell you for sure: if the money disappeared overnight, I would still be in racing, because I love it. The entrepreneurs would be gone.”
